Keep Your Parent Group in Good Standing with the IRS

If your parent group is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization and your annual gross receipts are $50,000 or less, the IRS requires you to file Form 990-N each year.

Staying current with this annual filing helps keep your parent group in good standing with the IRS. Organizations that don't file for three consecutive years automatically lose their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

Form 990‑N, also known as the e-Postcard, is the annual IRS filing required for eligible 501(c)(3) organizations with annual gross receipts of $50,000 or less.

The 990-N is due by the 15th day of the 5th month after your fiscal year ends. For a PTO on a calendar year, that means May 15.

Missing the 990-N for three consecutive years results in automatic loss of your 501(c)(3) status. Filing on time each year keeps your organization in good standing.

Your PTO can file the 990-N if it has 501(c)(3) status, annual gross receipts of $50,000 or less, and has not filed a Form 990 or 990-EZ this year. We confirm your eligibility before we file.

You need your EIN, your legal organization name and address, your fiscal year, and confirmation that your gross receipts are $50,000 or less. We walk you through each item.

Our specialists prepare your 990-N, submit it electronically to the IRS, and send confirmation once it is accepted. It is backed by our 100% accuracy guarantee.
